What Techcombank is good for

  1. Running the company

    Capital and operating accounts

The Direct Investment Capital Account that receives charter capital, and the operating account the business runs on afterwards.

    VND and foreign currency

Domestic payments in dong, and foreign-currency handling for a foreign-owned entity’s inbound capital and cross-border invoices.

  2. Foreign-owned SMEs that want a domestic branch relationship

    Who tends to fit

Domestic revenue in VND with some cross-border invoicing

Account thresholds and practical considerations

Minimum balance

Set by the bank
Not publishedMinimum balances and fees are the bank’s own schedule and are confirmed when the file is prepared — never quoted here.
  • Currencies

VND for domestic operations; foreign-currency accounts for a foreign-owned entity’s inbound capital and cross-border invoicing, within Vietnam’s foreign-exchange rules.

  • Online banking

Corporate online banking with token or app-based payment approval; English interface availability varies by bank and is confirmed for your branch.

  • Branch relationship

Expect a named contact at the branch that opens the account, and monthly statements in Vietnamese with English on request.

  • ShareholdersOne or more founders, with a Vietnam-resident legal representative
  • ActivityDomestic revenue in VND with some cross-border invoicing
  • CapitalCharter capital with a clear, documented source, contributed through the capital account inside the window.
Weaker fit
  • OwnershipOwnership chains that run through several jurisdictions without a clear individual owner at the top.
  • ActivityAn activity the licence does not clearly cover, or one the bank rarely banks.

Choose the bank that matches your file

Why Techcombank applications stall

Ownership not traceable

The bank cannot see who ultimately owns the company. A chart to the individual owners, with documents behind each layer, settles it.

Licence and activity disagree

The registered lines of business do not match what the company says it will do. The bank stops until they do.

Capital story unclear

Where the charter capital comes from is not evidenced. Banks expect a source they can document before it lands in the capital account.

The 90-day window

Capital that arrives late, or before the account exists, creates a compliance problem the bank will not want to inherit. Sequence the account first.

Frequently asked

Is Techcombank suitable for every foreign-owned company in Vietnam?
No single bank is. Techcombank may be relevant for some companies, depending on the activity, the ownership chain, the source of the charter capital, the expected transactions and the documents the company can produce. Suitability is confirmed against the actual file, not assumed from the bank’s profile.
Can Sonsoto guarantee an account at Techcombank?
No. Techcombank makes its own decision after reviewing the company, its owners and its documents, under its own KYC, compliance and risk rules. Sonsoto prepares the file and coordinates the application; the outcome, the timing and the products offered remain the bank’s.
Can a newly licensed company approach Techcombank?
A newly licensed company may apply, subject to Techcombank’s current requirements. The Direct Investment Capital Account has to be opened before charter capital is contributed, so the company should have its registration certificates, charter, ownership chart, source-of-capital evidence and a clear activity description ready before the visit.
Does the branch matter at Techcombank?
Branch practice for foreign-owned files varies, and it is confirmed before the visit is booked. Sonsoto is not an agent, introducer or partner of Techcombank; we prepare the company’s file and the approach, and the relationship is between the company and the bank.
